Haven't tried it yet to see how much room it sucks up.

On another note, you might want plop a jack stand back there too for the trip. I know on my '99 SE the hub seizes to the axle spindle rather well (a result of the natural corrosion on the axle spindle against the aluminum wheel). This can be a scary adventure to remove when relying on the factory jack for support as removal typically involves brute force with one's feet to break the seized rim (and watching your precious car teeter-totter on the jack is really horrific let alone the risk of loosing one's leg if it does fall off the jack).

If you want to help eliminate this before your trip journey to the local tyre shop and have them rotate/balance. After they struggle with breaking off the rims drive it home and stop by the parts store first to get a tube of axle grease (tell the parts guys what you are after, there is a specific name for it but I can't recall at the moment). Many tyre shops will not use with a claim to it effecting the torque rate of the lug nuts (probably worried about liability with getting onto brakes from over application). It is common to find it in use however from the factory (BMW & Mercedes both require similar care).

Once home the tyres should still be easily unmountable from their recent rotation/balancing. Simply jack up, follow instructions for lubing on each spindle, remount and drive away knowing the risk of a flat is much easier to handle when out in the middle of no man's land!
