I've read all the posts about marrying and divorcing the CD changer and I'm still confused. I bought a 99 9-3 that came off lease and took it to the Saab dealer to get them to add a CD changer. They told me that they could not do this because the prior leaser removed the CD changer without divorcing it (I was not even aware the car had ever had a changer). The dealer could (would?) not help me, even though I was willing to buy it from them and pay their labor. So I called the former leaser and was told by his mom that he was using the CD changer in his new Saab. Perhaps this is true if he used my VIN to divorce it so it could be married his car.
Does anyone know if my car can be cleared so it will accept a new CD changer? If not, this means if your original CD changer dies, Saab can not provide a replacement. Could this possible be true or is my dealer uninformed?
I would love to look in a factory service manual to see if they can clear my car or not but do not have access to one. Any help will be appreciated.
