The choice to run 6's or 7's has little to do with increased boost. Pull your old plugs and look at the deposits. Do you know if you have 7's or 7's installed now? The 6's just stay cleaner. The amount of deposits on 7's depends on houw you drive, amount of stop and go and cold starts, amount of higway driving etc.
When on boost or short trips, the plugs get deposits. When doing highway trips and steady running, when burn clean. The six's run hotter and burn clean easier than 7's. If you have 7's and they are dark, try the 6's. Don't go by whats in the owner's manual, go by what works. Changing your own plugs is a good idea, so you know whats going on. If the deposits look different across the cylinders, that is a concern.
The nominal plug gap is .039" (1mm), but there is a +/- tolerance band as well. If you gap to .035", then they will erode towards the nominal and will stay within range longer than starting at .039. Some will freak, because that is not stated in the owner's manual.
