I used to have a Miata---pre-marriage and child---and the top was slashed in numerous places in New York City after a dispute about a parking spot. Luckily, my wife worked at a very high end women's clothing store. The next day, after scanning the web and learning the thousands of $$ it would have cost to replace the top, the seamstress at her store sewed the slashes closed. It took her about 45 minutes and it was virtually good as new. Didn't even have to pay the dealer when we returned the car when the lease was up. If you don't have access to such a seamstress, try the local tailor or dry cleaners. It's worth some time and money to see if you can have it sewn before trying to replace the whole thing!!
