Drove the 9-3SS Linear

Well, I went by where they were holding SAAB's test drive this Saturday and drove a 9-3SS Linear (automatic) and a 9-5Aero (manual).
The 9-3 was quite nice. The interior is laid out nicely and seems to be ergonomically pleasing. I really liked the different informational systems. It was nice to toggle through the radio settings and actually see the different settings as opposed to knowing how to activate them using unintuitive buttons (e.g. hold Loudness down to turn off/on speed controlled volume).
As far as driving, the 5-speed auto is nice. Not as quick to shift manually as my old Passat though. The engine definitely feels less responsive than my '96 900SE. I couldn't tell if it was less lag or less power (I know it has less power but not THAT much less).
One thing which was weird was the key - the actual key is hidden in the fob. You place a blunt 'key' in the ignition. Weird. To get to the actual key for the doors, you pull the cover off.
One thing I did miss was the rear wiper. Being one who hates impaired visibility, I for the life of me, can not figure out why manufacturers refuse to put rear wipers on sedans. I know the physics behind a clear rear window when travelling down the highway, but around town or in stop/go traffic, I like to wipe the water away.
As for the 9-5, WOW. That is a really fast car (1st gear is a dog though). I would love to own one of these.
All in all, it was a fun afternoon. The only thing that I walked away wanting in the 9-3 was more power - something that the Vector will hopefully address.
