I got a '01 base 93 for a great price toward the start of 2002. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have waited for the 2003. I like my car, but would have a hard time justifying buying the 2002 model. I have had it back to the dealer more times in the last year (only 10K miles) than I had to take back my Saturn SC2 in 6 years of ownership. The overall package is great, but I have more creaks, rattles, suspension bangs, noisy ac, chipping paint from the bumpers than one should have on a car in this price range. I would understand if it was a lower price econo box, but this is entry-level luxury.

I have no doubt that the 2003 93SS will be better, even in its first production year. The new design is just that NEW, not a design that is 10+ years old. If SAAB hopes to compete with BMW and meet GM's plan for increasing sales it will have to be better, period.
