Viggen Engine Trouble Part Deux Posted by Nick [Email] (#227) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nick) on Wed, 23 Oct 2002 08:02:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
follow up on my post of Oct 15. Computer said it was a spark problem, plugs were replaced, engine light went out again, car did good for about 1 trip, then again at high rpm (starting at 4000) the engine would hang up and not continue to accelerate and engine light would flicker again.
Conclusion now is that the catalytic converter is obstructed and limiting exhaust flow explaining loss of low end power and engine acting funny at high rpm due to back pressure. Fixing the converter I was told should do the trick.
I'm just worried that more damage might have been done due to driving the car for about a month with that problem.
Is there anything else I should have the mechanics look into on the engine, check the new plugs again maybe, check compression...and other stuff that might have suffered due to high backpressure.
Any advive would be welcomed cause I don't want to pick up my car to then have it break down in another week due something else failing.
Thanks guys.
