In most situations a normally straight-walled tire on a wheel that makes it "bulge" off of the rim can give you a softer sidewall than standard fitment and more lateral distortion. With 215/45 to 225/45 you also add 9mm to the diameter of the tire and add unsprung rotating weight.
You may have more "stick" in smooth steady state turns, but since the wheel will move laterally more than the patch will, sudden lateral changes in transitional cornering would...at the very least...not respond nearly as crisply as a standard width tire and at the worst may cause a plus zero to break loose in situations where a standard fitment would hold. Less profile and a vertical sidewall means stiffer...stiffer means less tortional deformity under load...less deformity means less slip angle...less slip angle means crisper, more predictable handling.
That said...this is not a blanket statement. There are situations where wider is better, but I don't see that in the case of most Saabs and Saab drivers. Opinion, and nothing but. ;)
