Congrats on the Viggen purchase! I just purchased a used 2000 Viggen 5-dr recently and am thrilled with it so far.
Someone correct me if I'm off on this, but my understanding is the Viggen engine is basically same engine that was offered for some years previously in the 9000 Aero (in 225 HP tune). Saab moved it to the 9-3 line in the Viggen in '99 at 225 HP, which bumped to 230 for '00-02. Use of the engine expanded to the 9-5 Aero also; still used in that car now (in 250hp tune).
As for production figures... darn I have that info at home. I know there were 863 5-doors brought to the US from '00-02. Also, over the 4 yrs, the highest percentage in US was the convertible, then the 5-dr, then the 3-dr, with the rarest being the 2002 3-door. I'll try to remember to follow up w/the details. Later-
