Yes, a bit more comfort is provided and tire prices are much cheaper for good performance tires. Also, with a modded suspension and good performance tires, I don't see the bigger wheels and tires having much of an advantage on the street. Also, I guess it can be called a slight performance advantage that a smaller wheel and tire combo will be lighter and therefore reduce unsprung weight and give an ever so slight performance advantage.
With H&R springs, Koni dampers and SAS rear swaybar, I have to go around corners quite fast to get the tires to lose grip! :)
