I'd take what ever this guy says with a grain of salt. After all he does work for a dealership and not at the corporate level.
Plans to sell 250,000 cars is a pretty lofty goal. I'd be very surprised if they can reach their goal. I'd be very happy for them, but I see them having trouble "redefining" their identity to reach more customers. Making the new 9-3 SS less quirky is a step in the right direction, and the 9-5 is more mainstream than the 2002 9-3. If you take a look at what you can get a loaded brand new 9-5 Aero for almost $10,000 off list, I'd say they are having problems selling cars (and who isn't in today's economy).
As far as the 4 hours of service in the first 80,000 KM I'd get that in writing before you purchase the car. After all Saab dealerships survive by overcharging customers for routine maintenance which has kept a lot of people from buying Saab's in the first place.
Fully synthetic oil (Mobil One) costs about $4.50 a quart in the US so your total oil cost is about $25 per oil change plus the filter ($5 if they are overcharging you). I run Mobil One in my 2001 9-3 and change it every 6,000 miles, which means I spend about $60 per year on oil changes...which is pretty reasonable. BTW, I change it myself, which one dealer told me voided my warranty! I'd like to see that hold up in court!
