Audio upgrade - front speaker question

After reading Richard's audio guide, I have decided to replace all the speakers on my 9-3 base and add a 4 channel amp. Here is the question I'm wrestling with:
I have three choices for my front speakers based on the equipment I have:
1. Buy new component speakers and hook them up to 2 channels of the amp, running tweeters in the dash and midrange in the door. (most expensive option).
2. Buy new full range 3" speakers for the front dash, run them directly off of the head unit, and put 1 way 6.5" speakers in the doors which are run off of 2 channels of the amp. (cheap)
3. Buy new tweeters with crossovers for the front dash, hook them up to the 1 way speakers in the doors with the crossovers, and run the whole assembly off of 2 channels of the amp. (also cheap)
Anybody done any of the above? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Bill
