You can review Dean's write-up under "drs_install", here's what I did based off that write-up. The main reason for using this method is other methods of draining the fluid are a PITA:
1. set up shop vac to suck fluid (on many models you remove the filter)
2. remove coolant reservoir cap
2. remove clamp on top radiator hose where it meets the radiator
3. start the vacuum before detaching the upper radiator hose from the radiator. Suck all fluid out of the system
4. reattach hose and refill system with clean water
5. run engine to flush
6. vacuum water out
7. use 13mm and 10mm sockets to replace thermostat - a mini-socket set is helpful, its kinda tight back there
8. refill system with coolant mixture
The vacuum seems to get out the vast majority of fluid, if not all.
Good luck!
