After driving my 2000 9-3 in Germany for 2 years before bringing it to the US, I know from experience that a 325 or an A4 will not beat a 9-3 in terms of power. The only place either car had an advantage was in the tight curves. My 9-3 had better acceleration and more top end than any 3-series BMW with only the BMW M3 proving to be faster. The same for the Audi A4. When you add in rain, snow, or ice, the advantage clearly goes to the Saab compared to the BMW (but not the Audi Quattros). I drove the other cars and enjoyed the experience, but chose the Saab because it's a car I can live with and enjoy the experience. I still believe that after 2 years and 70,000, mostly autobahn, miles. The new 9-3 is an improvement in almost every way, except for losing the hatch. Now if only I can find one on Hawaii and the time to take it for a test drive.
