If you take a look at the link below of the possible photoshop job on the SS that make it in to a HATCH, the SS and current 9³ can be a bit hard to distinguish.
As for this spy shot of the conv, it looks convincing. The the hood has 3 washer nozzles, the wheel arches are 9³SS, the trim line is above the door handles (9³SS), and the lower bumper skirt is 9³SS.
The grill thing is because of the perspective of the photo. If you look at the wheelbase and length for both the outgoing vs SS, you will see very little difference. From that, the next Viggen and possibly the Vector will probably have the same front end clearance problem.
One more thing, the windshield joint to the body panels and hood is completely different here than on the current 9³. The current 9³'s panels call come into a nice filleted radius with the window pillar coming up from behind. The SS seem to have the window pillar coming out of the body panels.
