I would be looking for them to total it.
There are a couple things that will determine total loss or repair and insurance companies each have different numbers. Damage cost estimate to book value will most likely be the determining factor, but determine what percentage the insurance company using 40%, 80% or something in the middle. Also find out what book their using to determine the value of the car. MOST IMPORTANTLY - If the car is to be fixed and you cannot convince them to total, MAKE SURE they are using OEM Saab parts because aftermarket body panels are ususally thinner and made with cheaper steel more prone to rust, not to mention panel allignment leaves a lot to be desired and metallic paints never seems to match perfectly.
I'm not an insurance guy, but have been on the receiving end of someone's front bumper twice, both times their fault. This is what information I can offer based on my experience.
Happy Saabing.
