I had the rescue kit installed in two phases-the steering brace first, then the suspension bushings. I have not installed the subframe brace yet-I'm not sure I want to lose another inch+ of ground clearance.
The result (drum roll): 2/3 of the torque/braking/road steer are removed. The leftover 1/3 is still obnoxious, but much better. I am much more confident driving the car.
You have to keep the tire pressures up to keep things right. I was fooled by the recently cooling temperatures and had to touch up pressures (42psi front, 38 rear). Any comments on that?
The steering brace gave half the improvement, bushings the other half.
I think the basic problem, aside from soft stock bushings and steering rack mount, is that the rack is mounted on the body and the suspension arms are on the subframe, which can deflect against the body, such that the steering rack is not in direct connection with the suspension. My C900 has no such intermediate subframe to wiggle, and does not have road or braking steer.
I am thinking of testing this theory by buying a set of subframe mounts and welding them solid. Replacing the current mounts with these won't harm anything in the short term but be a good test. Probably will transmit more engine vibration of course. If this is the problem I'll try to design mounts that flex vertically so as to not transmit vibration, but are trapped laterally to fix steering shifts.
Any thoughts?
