You gotta be careful. I use the ski rack a lot, though not in this weird year. I just make certain the hatch is up when I put the skis on to ascertain adequate clearance. I use the Yakima Road Warrior bike rack. It has hte full-length wheel rail & again I just make certain that I have adequate clearance with the hatch open when I first install it.
With the skis on, I can lean way forward in the diriver's seat to check on their status. Not quite so for the bikes, but if need be, I can open the sunroof & check that way. It is WAY too noisy to open the sun roof with bikes on. You will also get bug remnants impinged into your scalp that way, too.
