Fuel Gauge/DTE problems

A couple of months ago, I parked my 2002 9-3 SE on a slight decline for the night. The car had a little less than a 1/4 tank of gas in it. The next morning when I went to start the car it would not turn over. The battery was working fine and I knew there was enough gas in the tank so that should not have been the problem. But apparently, because of the slope of the hill that I was parked on, the car was not getting enough gas to start. After nearly flooding the engine, the car finally turned over but the experience left a bad tast in my mouth. It also has screwed up the accuracy of the DTE (distance til empty) and the fuel gauge now sometimes seems to float. Until that morning the DTE was, I felt, extremely accurate and very trustworthy. Now it is all over the map. I am due for my 10k checkup in 2k miles and will alert the dealer of this problem. But in the meantime I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their Saab and may have any remedies to cure these ills.
