The charcoal canister is part of the emission control system. and is used in all new cars. Basically, the charcoal traps fuel vapors and releases them to them engine later to be burned. This system allows the fuel tank to be "sealed" from the atmosphere, thus reducing contamination/pollution ...You can search "charcoal canister" on the internet. There is plenty of explanation and diagrams. In the 93, it is located behind the front passenger wheel.
I have had stalling problems on my previous NG 900 SET. Mostly upon re-fueling. You can read my earlier posts on the NG board (search under "stalling after re-fueling"). I always thought that there was something wrong with the canister valve, but could never convince the dealer to check it because "there were no error codes"...
Anyway I ended up trading that car because I couldn't resist the 95 Aero deals that were available in August. I think the problem would have been easy to fix had the dealer been more knowledgeable.
Regards
