Well, I think your problems must be relative to the way you drive or the roads where you are and the dealer you have to do business with.
I've had my Viggen for a year (15K miles) and so far have had 0 bent rims, though some self-inflicted curb rash. Hell, in a blinding rainstorm I even drove at about 30MPH over a 4" high median (don't ask) with no rim damage - I was amazed given the stories around here. I might get 5K more miles out of the stock P6000's, but at least I don't have to put a set of $1200 tires on each time like a friend of mine with an '01 M3. I'm actually looking forward to tossing these so I can upgrade as well as go from 215 to 225 width which will also provide a little more sidewall rubber to protect the rims.
My car has had very few problems - back door handle was flaky and squeaky front-left suspension when hitting speed bumps - all fixed at 10K maintenance. Thus I've not really pushed the envelope with my dealer yet. With my previous SAAB ('98 900SET) there were also very few problems but several things were fixed under warranty no questions asked. Probably doesn't hurt that SAAB USA is about 15 miles up I-85 from my dealer!
