Just had the new Sport Edition Tekno wheels with Bridgestone RE730 G2 rubber mounted on the 9-3. Quite nice! They look really good on the 9-3. The local SAAB dealer service reps and salesmen went gah gah over them when I stopped by. Ditto for everybody else that shares in my SAAB lust at the office.

The rims seem to be of decent quality and finish, especially given the price. Made in Italy, I couldn't readily make out the maker's mark in the casting on the backside of the rim (Fonti? Fombo?). Alas, not too much available just yet in the way of technical info outside of what the TireRack provided. Purportedly this company is one of the OEM's for Porsche...Mmmmmmkay. Regardless of that, very nice piece of alloy. It immediately looks like they will be less prone to curb rash as the "knuckle" that original five spoke had is not there (I can finally not fret when friends borrow it for fear of getting curb rash!). Casting is very clean and finish is flawless.

The Bridgestones seem to agree with the 9-3 so far (only a couple hundred miles). Smooth and very low noise they also provide a good degree of feedback and response over the Yokohama 550v tires mounted prior. Weather has been wretched here so no chance to toss about in a parking lot or ramp set, looking forward to the next dry spell. Do very well in the wet with much better hydro-planing resistance. Have to see how they fare over time, the original 730s I had on my SE-R had a good life span for the grip given but were terribly noisy anywhere past 50% tread consumption. Hopefully the noise is reduced to tolerable levels with the 730 G2.

I'll toss a picture or two out somewhere if anybody is interested.
