Hello All,
I've got a 2.2TiD Saab 9-3 125bhp. 25,000 miles, 2 years old, UK.
Only two problems so far:
1) For the first 10,000 miles it drank in total 3 litres of oil - this is "normal" according to the handbook... but it caused (? - according to the dealer) the second problem:
2) Engine warning light at 20,000 miles, due to dirty / sooted / sticking EGR valve. Initally no loss of power.
The problem was solved under warranty (took them two goes to clean out the valve and surrounding parts, 1,000 miles after the first clean out the engine suddenly became very rough).
In the last thousand miles it has had a free SAAB customer satisfaction recall "upgrade" consisting (?- according to the dealership) of a completely new EGR valve and tinkering with the engine management system (thanks Dean for your very informative reply).
So, if you haven't already had the upgrade, then ask them if it is available.
Cheers,
Tony.
