Haven't had brake squeal on my 99 9-3, but on all my other cars it has been fixed by taking the pads out and using the right brake grease in the right place on the back of the pads and the slider pins. Light sanding of the pads can break up the glaze, but generally pads are cheap enough that I just replace them when I pull them out.
Have had the clutch squeal. Search on the bulletin board for "throwout" because the leading cause is believed to be the throwout bearing assembly in the clutch. The folks who have had it fixed have replaced the clutch plate while the transmission was out, so I don't know if we have the definitive experiment on cause. If it's still under warranty, see the dealer ASAP.
