your door strike switch. Most newer ones are on the b-pillar side of the jamb which makes them easier to service but a good bit more sensitive too. Could be the switch (adjusted too far in towards the interior), switch cover (torn or deformed), door stops (too much gap) or in the rarest of cases hinge alignment (unlikely). My '91 Civic Si was very prone to needing adjustment for everything but the hinges, simply a result of the switch location and super long & heavy doors.
Your mention of the alarm and dome light gremlins does fall more in line with the CPU not being able to get a proper response from the switch for the door.
Grounding could be the culprit but I suspect you'd see more voodoo pop up elsewhere as that typically effects quite a bit more of the car's workings.
Did the dealer examine the door and switches or did they simply look at the TechII to see what it reported error wise?
