This only my experience and a proper service manual should be consulted for all necessary information.
Tools needed;
Jack stand, 17,19,22,27mm open-end/combination wrenches, Torx 30 driver, 10mm socket/ratchet, pan to catch fuel.
Parts needed;
filter, 2 small, 2 large seals.
Procedure;
Apply park brake, make sure car is in gear, block front wheels, raise right-rear on jack stand. Remove black plastic guard by unscrewing 2 10mm plastic nuts (these are fastened to plastic screws so don't use the kung fu grip when replacing!). While filter is still on, break the tension on both bolts making sure to apply reverse tension on the flats of the filter. USE CAUTION WHEN BREAKING THE BOLT TENSION AS FUEL PRESSURE WILL BE RELEASED RESULTING IN FUEL SPRAYING OUT OF THE JOINTS. Expect to loose a few ounces of gas when first relieving pressure, and about a cup total loss when removing the filter from the hanger. This job is nearly impossible to screw up, the input side of the filter uses a 19mm wrench and the output side uses a 17mm wrench. The hollow bolts are correspondingly sized so you can't reverse them. Remove the filter hanger with the Torx 30 screw and empty the remaining gas from the old filter. I take this time to write the mileage and date on the new filter with a Sharpie just in case any paperwork gets lost. Install the new filter with the arrows pointing away from the center of the car while making sure it is approximately centered in the hanger. Install a seal on both sides of the bolts and snug down while making sure the fuel lines are not twisting during the tightening process. While the guard is still off and the car is raised, place the transmission in nuetral/park and start the engine -this will take 10-20 seconds as the system repressurizes. Check the fittings for leaks and adjust if necessary. Replace the guard (remember pastic nuts and screws!) and the job is finished. Total time about 45 minutes.
