Heater Fan Switch

I have a 1999 93 Base. Recently when switching fan speeds the fan seems to stop for a second or two and then restart. I have an appointment with the dealer next week, but am planning a long trip this weekend. I am in New England where it is expected to be cold over the next several days. Has anyone experienced this type of problem? Did the switch die eventally?
Thanks
