I can't answer your question, but offer my experience with Koni and Bilstein.
I have Bilsteins in my Volvo 850 T5 wagon and it rides stiff. I wish I went with a "looser" strut/shock. Koni was too expensive and my friend had bad luck with them. I recently replaced the Koni units in his VW VR6 Jetta. The rears were completely dead in 35K miles. To the point the car would po-go in the rear over bumps. The fronts were better, but didn't offer the rebound/compression that I thought they should. Right now he's fighting with Koni to see if there is anyway to get these replaced for free.
While I only have 5K on my Bisteins, another friend of mine swears by them and says they last a long time. He auto-crosses and drives rather hard.
I didn't answer your question, but my experience may be of some help.
Happy Saabing
David M
