For the third time in two weeks my Saab stalled on me when I first put it into gear. This has so far only happened when I start the car for the first time after it sits over night.

The first time it was about 30 degrees outside, and when I started up and moved the lever into 'R' the car shuddered violently and stalled, it took about 3 seconds to die. I started it back up and tried again and no problems. The car acted perfectly normal afterwards.

The second time was about 4 days later. Same thing happened. Put it in 'R', violent shudders, instant death. Retried and success afterwards.

Today I was in a spot where I could pull through. I started the car, put it in 'D', and the poor thing shuddered itself to death again. It took about 5 seconds to do so. I restarted and retried and no problems at all. It was about 35 degrees this morning.

I have had the car about 2 months now. It has only been very cold (for Georgia anyway) for the last few weeks. I think this is a cold weather thing. ? It didn't do this the first month and a half when it was in the 40s in the morning here.

Could the tranny fluid be too viscous? Could something be sticking that gets dislodged by the first attempt at driving--the one that stalls the car? I have noticed that sometimes she idles a bit low (the pitch of the engine is low, not the RPM. The car seems to vibrate more) when she is cold, but she doesn't feel close to stalling and the tach holds true at 1k.

Any ideas? The car is a 99 and I have 29k miles on it.

Thanks!
