Better gas mileage, more power, more control, more fun, cheaper to replace if it brakes down... get a manual!
Automatics are indeed nice to have in heavy traffic, have a better resale value, and the shifts on the 9-3 at least are terribly long & notchy ... nevertheless, the advantages of the manual transmission far outweight the automatic in my humble opinion! If you have nice roads and enjoy driving you will never get tired of shifting.. with each shift you have the option of taking it easy and saving gas.. or letting it rev all the way up for more power.. you have absolute control all the time and its the greatest feeling on earth.
