DIY amp installation.

I've read 90% of the past post on this subject, and still need some help:
I've already changed my dash and rear hatch speakers to Infinity Kappas. It sounds better, but its still not very good at higher volumes (I'm guessing high distortion due to low 20W power of the stock stereo). Also, heat is very very bad! My CDRs feel close to 50F after playing for about 2 hours!
I've decided to add a 4 channel amp. Here's what I want to do:
Plug the amp into the pre-amp out using a home-made DIN-cable and put the amp under the front passenger seat.
Problem/question:
Any idea where I can find an amplifer with relatively good sound (low distortion...doesn't have to be very powerful.. 50w x 4 is fine) that is ALSO small so it can fit under the front seat? Better yet, fit under the "kick-panel" under the glove box.
Do I have to unplug the stock door speaker amps or can I "split" the signal at the pre-amp out DIN plug at the head unit?
Is there a good place to get enough power/ground for the amplifer? I don't want to cut any firewall or rubber boots and directly connect a wire from the battery unless I absolutely have it.
Last: Anyone know a Saab-experienced installer in Michigan or the Greater Toronto area?
