Hey...

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in...

I traded a 93 5 spd VR6 Passat with 150k on it for a 2002 9-3 SE HOT Convertible back in May.

I have 16K on it now and have spent more time in shitty loaner cars in than I ever did with 5 years I had the Passat.

Nothing serious has gone wrong, which is a good thing, but the Passat had far less rattles and squeaks at 150K than my 9-3. And it seat heaters, window regulators, headlights, infomation display, antenna, seat belt buckle and alarm system never broke. Needless to say, I'm disenchanted with Saab build quality and don't plan to keep this car out of warrenty.

Overall, the convertible is a blast, despite way too much body roll/flex around corners. But compared to the Honda Accord that I've had for a loaner for the past few days, its top notch.

The Saab is a fun and unique car, but if Audi/VW built a real convertible, not these useless TT roadsters, Cabrios, or Beetles, I would have bought it. I missed the new A4 cabrio rollout by about 3 months, and even if it had been available with I purchased the Saab it would have been far too expensive (they were leasing at mid $700/month for a fully loaded 3.0, compared with a loaded CLK for $600, vs my Saab which is like $450 a month)

Needless to say, the Saab is okay while its under warrenty...and for me to be convinced to keep it after that, well, it better start behaving :)

And I agree with you all, dealer service is terrible. Hoffman Saab here in CT is horrible to deal with. Excellent sales department, totally apathetic service department. Its amazing, my 50 year old mother was treated like royalty when she brought my car in for service. She got a 9-5 loaner, ready on time, etc. When I (early 20s) bring it in for service its never ready when promised and this time I was lucky enough to get a base Honda Accord that has bricks for seats, not to mention no leg room.

My VW dealer experience was always awesome. Good luck. Enjoy your new car.
