I leased a 2002 9-3 this past june with premium package and I was able to accomplish a few main objectives that I sought out:

1. Put as little $$ down as possible. Like a previous poster said, if something happens to the car 2 days after you leave the lot, you end up losing all of the $$ you put down. I asked the dealer to run a credit to allow me to set the temrs. Out of pocket I only paid $1,800 & they waived the security deposit.

2. I also wanted to keep my monthly payment under $400 and have 15,000 miles per year. I was able to do this by going to a few Saab dealers to get the price I want. Be straight forward with them. I gave the figures from one dealer and presented them to another and they said they couldn't touch it. This at least gave me piece of mind.

3. The 3rd was the buyout. This is my first Saab so I opted to lease it to make sure it was the right fit for me. The lease gave me an out if it wasn't, but in this case it is a great car for my practical and fun factor needs. As long as all goes well maintainence wise, then I will buy it out. The buyout price was acceptable and if I do buy it out the total amount of the car is $27,500 which is prettty good for Westchester, NY.

Good luck and take your time and don't be afraid to demand a better price. The 9-3's at my dealership are not moving as quickly as they would like even though Westchester, NY has a rather large Saab following. Because of this, you should have some negotiation power. Good Luck!!
