Here at Marvin K. Brown in San Diego, I'm not supposed to tell you up front as part of my spiel what the exact incentives are. But if you ask I won't lie or hide it from you. That's not the way I would do it if it were my store. I personally think the incentives are part of the story. Being vague about such matters invites natural skepticism. People can smell it, so to speak and I'm a poor liar. I like to level the playing field and make a customer think I'm on his side, which I am, but I'm not foolish either. Anyone who's made a living selling cars might somewhat agree that the more a customer pays for a car, the happier they are. Or conversely, the more the negotiate you down, the less happy they are later. Not true all the time, but I hope you can appreciate the irony.
It's hard enough selling any car that it doesn't work to try and snow people. Those days are gone. There are too many outfits like Saturn that are "one price", take it or leave it, and many other brands are marketed that way at the local level. My local Saab competition are al ex-Saturn guys. Taking the negotiation out of an automobile transaction doesn't necessarily make it easier to buy a car. It's more natural for people to have a reason to buy today than for them to know they can get the same deal anytime.
But that aside, ASK YOUR LOCAL DEALER. True communication is invalueable.
Ask them to keep you abreast of the latest incentive programs. If they won't be honest with you about that kind of thing then find somebody who will. Doesn't necessarily have to be at a different dealer, you might try the sales manager.
