I think it is a great car and a good value. I am a long time BMW 325i driver and just got a 2003 9-3 Linear with the launch package. A few observations after 3 weeks:
- Cool car. Lots of neat options and a look and feel that sets it apart from the rest of the cars it is compared with.
- Power. The low pressure turbo 4 cyln engine (175 hp) with auto transmission feels very smooth and well balanced. It has enough power and acceleration to satisfy most sport-minded drivers. I was compelled to wait for the higher pressure T version (210 hp), but changed my mind after a good test drive with this car.
- Handling. Great. Somewhat better than my 89 Beemer and far better than any other front-wheel drive (lots of rental cars on biz travel) I have ever driven (eg Maxima).
-Brakes. Great
-Stereo. 150 watt version w 6-disc in dash CD. Pretty good except for the rear speakers. I understand from the dealer that SAAB will have an amp/rear speaker kit comming out soon to improve the rear.
-Interior Space. Signicantly better that most of the cars its compared with. It has almost the same space and feel as a BMW 5 series inside. The trunk is very large.
I have no regrets and am very happy with this car.
