Ever since I've owned a convertible, it has always been a chore to keep up with the garage door remote. I purchased a keyfob remote for my keychain, but it was so small and low-power that it was aggravating to use. I always wanted a Homelink system, but the one that Saab offered as an aftermarket solution was not practical for installation in the convertible. On top of that, I've been wanting the auto-dimming mirror, but the Saab unit does not fit the convertible. Then one day I stumbled upon the Gentex Homelink/Auto-Dimming mirror from Mitocorp. It completely fits the bill and the best part is that it fits the factory mirror mount perfectly. There are two models available, the 50-GENK40 and the 50-GENK60. The first one is JUST Homelink and Autodim, the second one adds Compass, Temp, Maplight and a feature they call PRNDL. The "PRNDL" is a feature that you can enable or disable and it dimly illuminates the area beneath the mirror (BMWs have this feature). I purchased the one with everything and found it relatively easy to install myself. There are a few tips and tricks to the installation, which I will gladly write down if anyone is interested in installing one. You can contact Mitocorp (http://www.mitorcorp.com) to find a retailer/installer in your area, but the best deal I found was online at http://www.jpcustoms.com. It took a while to arrive, but it was about $100 less than the local retailers.
Enjoy!
