I have the Avid H4s, decent compromise (long)

I bought my '01 Viggen used with new Avid H4s already on it, stock size 215/45/17. I couldn't really justify throwing away 4 brand new tires, so I've been driving on them. I'm sure they come up way short of the S-03s, but cornering grip is really pretty good, both wet and dry. Braking they seem fine. On acceleration they are easily overpowered, especially in the wet. I have read posts to the effect that certain tires will reduce torque steer, and if so, these aren't them. They are plenty quiet, and with traction control, they've even been pretty good in the snow. No real problems with about 3-4 inches of snow on the ground. As a compromise, I think they're good. All that said, if you're looking for an all-season, the Sumitomo HTR+ seems to be getting a lot of great reviews, better than the H4/V4s.
