There are two components to the audio system. The faceplate you see and the speaker system. They are ES1 Saab Audio (basic face-no scree), ES2 Infotainment (small screen with telephone keypad) and ES3 Infotainment Plus (Nav System). The speakers are SS1 70W 4 speakers (n/a in US). SS2 150W 7 speakers and SS3 300W 13 speakers. ES3 will not in in US until MY04. ES2 can be mixed with SS2 or SS3. This is why you are seeing Linears with ES2 and SS2. While Arc & Vector (US) will have ES2 & SS3.
The audio plug you are refering to was suppose to go into production in January and is tied to ES2 & ES3. It will be a mini RCA type female plug so you will be able to plug in a MP3 or even a cassette for those of you who like books on tape.
This AUX plug might have delayed until 2004 along with the Bluetooth. Since we haven't seen any Arc/Vector models I can't tell you for sure. The only thing to do is to wait and see when they arrive.
