There seem to be a lot of bad experiences with extended warrantees. I bought a certified car. The dealer did a lot to the car to bring it up to standard. My car has new front brakes & rotors, battery, wipers, serpentine belt put on by dealer. Tires and brakes had to have certain minimum standards. i got a list of what the mechanic found. The few things that were not fixed were fixed immediately. Look at the date the car originally put in service and get one with the longest time left. Ceritified car is like new car warranty. No waiting to get repair authorized. I get a free loaner car as well from my dealer. there is also a carfax report in the file so you know the history of the car.
I have had a car sit for days to have the repair authorized and then a month to get it repaired under the extended warranty I purchased from a SAAB dealer and then they only rebuilt the engine. I think I would have got a new engine under the SAAB original warranty. There is no comparison.
