Hey guys...

I'm hoping for some advice and recommendations. I have had a bad string of luck with my convertible, culminating with a Nissan Pathfinder on Sunday.

The Pathfinder equipped with brush guards (in manhattan...like you really need those here!) smashed the shit out of the back end of my car while parallel parking, and then took off despite witnesses.

I got back to my car to find a woman standing there who told me what happened, and she couldn't get a plate off the SUV. So I'm essentially screwed. The trunk is pushed in about 8", tailights smashed, bumper cover has two minor gouges, but looks pretty unscathed. The rear quarters are fine, but the panels under the tailights are both broken (they're plastic...they just cracked and fell off) If it had been a car, it would have been just another bumper ding. But brush guards don't leave dings :( The front of the car has an equal amount of damage from being pushed into the trailer hitch of the SUV parked in front of me, causing the front bumper cover to crack, took out a fog light and cracked the front spoiler.

If I put through another insurance claim, my rates will skyrocket to the point of being totally unaffordable, if they even keep me. (My top was slit about 3 months ago while parked at school--I'm a college student). Currently I'm paying about $4800 a year in insurance, and I know I cannot afford another claim. But I don't really have any other choice I don't think, with the prices of Saab parts.

My chief concern is getting the car fixed flawlessly. I'd rather get it done right than save $1000 and have it look like shit. I'm located in Fairfield County Connecticut, go to school in NYC. If anyone can recommend a terrific body shop anywhere in CT or Westchester County, NY I'd be really appreciative.

Furthermore, I'd love to hear any ideas to keep the cost down to see if I can afford to pay this out of my pocket and not go through insurance.

Thank you all in advance.

Ryan
