Hi,
I used the kit that came with the V-1. I removed the plastic false ashtray (pull up and out), and tapped the power socket into the powered wire to the back of the cigarette lighter, with the ground wire running to a trim screw in the driver's side footwell. I ran the long, flat, telephone cord that comes with the V-1 under the steering wheel, behind the fuse box, up through the dash speaker, behind the A-pillar, and under the roof lining to attach to my detector near the rear-view mirror. It took about half-an-hour to do this, and it's certainly an easy operation. The wire is hidden from view. The power socket lives behind the false ashtray, in the cavity under the ACC.
The lighter was easily accessed, and I wanted to keep the power socket central in case I wanted to install a remote display. You could follow the directions of your previous link to wire it into the fuse box, which seems more efficient.
I have a picture of the finished product on my (lame) website, and can post more if you need further clarification...
Best,
Lutfisk
