My V1 has saved me from many tickets.
The directional arrows are great because I generally ignore X and K band readings from the side as in populated areas these are always false alarms. In addition to that, I know where to look to spot the cop.
Here in CT and NY cops are big on laser, and I've found the V1 does a pretty good job giving you some sort of warning, as long as you are in traffic. Granted its not a big warning, after all, it is laser...but its better than my friend's Escort.
As for the license plate covers, my friend has a M3 and had one on his car, and still got nailed with a laser. Another friend who is a state trooper said said they are useless, as they generally aim for the front license plate of the car, but a lot of times, they go for the front of your car. He claimed they were a gimmicky.
