The OE plug was the NGK BCPR7ES-11. It's a slightly colder plug than the 6.

SAAB's prevailing thought here is that hot climates, and/or trailer-towing applications in the mountains, in 90-100 degree weather are better suited to 7's.

Other SAAB owners, have short-mediun driving distances, sans trailers.

The 7's tended to foul in cold weather--like right now (11 degrees here in Michigan)so many let their cars idle extensively, and then combine it with short-distance driving applications --like less than 2 miles to the local store.

It was discovered that the 6's and the Trionics worked well together in responsiveness. Many Viggen owners employ the 6's over the platinum plugs that originally came in that car.

I've had 4- NG-900 turbo and/or 9-3 cars since 1996. The 1996 was the only one I ran on 7's --and it was just fine but the information to run 6's that I launched on this BB came out in 1999.

The remaining 3 cars all ran on NGK 6's ( and no-I do not have a trailer)including my 2002 SE- which came with platinum plugs, but seems to me to run better on the NGK coppers.

I don't gap them as tight as Dean and others--but consider it personal preference. I gap at 0.037". (But even gap guages can have an error from guage to guage.) I change 'em (replace 'em)every 15,000 miles because they are sooooo cheap to buy.

Hope this enough to convince you !
