"Normal" life longer than 75k.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Thu, 13 Feb 2003 16:50:45 In Reply to: 75,000 miles. Modern shocks and struts last a really long time under normal circustances, but define normal. My '96 900SE, essentially the same car, has 73k and nothing to indicate worn shocks or struts. While it's possible to have a shock or strut fail, IMHO it's very unlikely. Are there any leaks evident? And even a leak doesn't always mean failure or replacement.
The fenderwell gap is established by the springs, not the shocks and struts.
Performance suspension stuff will make your teeth rattle even more.
