1994-2002 [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
hiya & welcome
I purchased a 2002 9-3 convertible in August & highly recommend Saab based on my experience to date -the only real problem so far is/are the clips on the 3rd bow on the convertible have dropped the headliner so it sags a bit- here in Atlanta the top is down as much as possible this winter =D That will be taken care of at the 5K oil change next month.
From all I hear the 2003 convertible mostly has some cosmetic (Viggin~esque) body styling differences but is the same basic model as the 02 in most regards. It has been reported that the 04 will be made in a different factory altogether.
I test drove the bmw 325 & 330 cic, & volvo c70 convertibles, and even took a spin in the Audi A4 convertible when it visited in Oct despite the fact I had already bought the saab- and I definitely chose the right car for me.
The volvo is too fussy and drove like a boat. The BMW's were not for me, though they were as fun to drive as the saab, but FWD is better for my tastes and driving habits. (though I admit I am looking at a 1976 2002 as a 2nd tool-around town/commute car as I can't find an older Saab in Georgia with less than 200K miles on it for under $2500) The bimmer stealerships were awful to a tee and I did not want to wait 2-3 months while a car was built that I hadnt even seen & drove. FYI I had previously owned a 1992 325 first model year coupe and it was a lemon from the get go. That said, people love them, but I'm just not a "new" bimmer guy any more. Bangle must pay! The audi wasn't what I was hoping it would be- very disappointed in that car. I ended up hating the repair bills for a 1984 Audi 4000 anyway by the time I traded it in *lol*
I'm extremely pleased with both the car and the Saab service to date. A couple of gremlins related to the auto climate control have occurred but nothing has failed... though I would prefer the option to bypass the AC compressor for heat when the top is up as well as down- but no such luck from the programmers/developers.
The 16" P6000 tires were the better choice for the bad potholes in ATL... wish the gas milage was in the 30's & 40's instead of the 20's though - but ya can't have it all.
Oh and if you lease make sure you have GAP insurance if you dont use SAAB financial. Enjoy the driving!!
disclaimer- this is just personal experience, yadda yadda, I dont work for GM, GMAC, Saab USA or any affiliated dealership, yadda yadda yadda-
