Low Ground Clearance issue

Not that i'm complaining, but as a new saab 9-3 driver, Every day i notice new things about my car that i may not have considered while doing the snoopy dance in the dealership.
Besides it's already low enough clearance on a linear with 16" wheels, there is a plate that seems to be about 4" long that seems to guard the tires from the front. this makes the clearance REALLY low, and i noticed it for the first time last week when CT got POUNDED by snow. Driving in a foot and a half of snow i really got to see what that kind of low clearance would do.
The screachy sound of icy snow scraping along the underside of my brand new 9-3 made the little hairs on my neck stand up in terror.
Something to consider, my linear is midnight blue, and has the stock black bedskirt on it, as is the color of those little plates in front of the wheels.
Question: How is this going to look in a few more months? Will this be scraped to hell from unavoidable potholes and speedbumps?
