Just my two cents...I picked up my '02 Viggen convertible in November ; I was back within three hundred miles with excessive vibration complaints...all four rims were bent, on the inside. Tire pressure was 32 psi; if it had been set higher, this might have mitigated the problem. Owner's manual specifies a range from 30 - 43 psi, a huge differential.
I purchased a set of Aero takeoffs from Goodman Saab in Ann Arbor for $1200, and love them. Tires are Michelin Pilots - lousy in snow, but that's what beaters are for<g>...great traction in wet or dry. They're 225's instead of the std. size, and torque steer does seem to be slightly exacerbated...but that could be the tire pressure as well, as they're at 43 psi. Best news, after a month of use, no vibration. Car is driven in NYC suburbs.
FYI, I had the same issues with my last toy - a '95 M3. The explanation there was that due to high speed capacity of the car, the rims were designed to bend rather than shatter.
