O2 sensor was fine

After changing my plugs and a failing DI cassette, I continued to have power loss particularly around 2K rpms. The front O2 sensor was suspected, a dealer had said it was bad. It tested fine. My engine performance cleared up after the ECU was reset.
It seems odd to me that the ECU would be throwing a wrench in things. I understand the ECU collects data, I guess it's database was corrupted by the failing DI?
