I posted a solution to a similar problem I had on a 1999 SE that I bought last summer with 24K miles on it. Maybe its because of the high frequencies of a squeak, but the source of the noise is VERY hard to pinpoint. I found that if I pushed the headliner in the right places I could either make the noise, or stop it (while driving).
The sunroof assembly is bolted to the roof in a way that could create this type of squeak. Mine didn't really require tightening - instead, I loosened it to get rid of the noise, and then tightened it back up. You should be able to get to this area without taking the whole headliner out. Just drop the corner of it above the rear passenger side. You'll probably have to remove the ever-ugly plastic covers over the front seatbelt and remove the assist handles.
If you do decide to take the whole headliner down, it is certainly doable, but take your time. There are a lot of plastic snaps (don't know what else to call them) that can get lost or broken around the rear pillars.
No more squeaks in mine, but the car has plenty of rattles to annoy me now. My 1995 900S is actually much quieter and I prefer it for short, in-city trips.
