I've been using these for a while for all of my cars - all automatic. Use one foot on the gas and one on the brake to make a smoother climb up the ramps. You can feel when you reach the flat spot. This is the only time I use this two foot technique - it actually feels a little akward but works great for getting up the ramps.
I also find it helpful to wedge the ramps under the tires a little before starting - otherwise they have the tendency to slip.
